Pre-Mite League is your player's first introduction to the game of hockey. The league follows the USA Hockey Initiation program format of cross ice games. The ice is divided into 2 sections and each section has it's own game. This format allows for the beginner skater to ahve more success while enjoying the first experience in a game setting. Scoring is not kept to decrease the competitiveness of the games and keep the emphasis on learning and having fun. All players get the chance to play goalie during games. During games positions are not followed, thus allowing for a free flowing game that is easier for the kids to enjoy and better for their skill development. Lines changes and team play is stressed each week during the season.
All skaters are allow and actually recommended to join the Pre-Mite League as an addition to ther regular class. Beginner Pre-Mites must complete 1 session on class before entering the league so they are comfortable with the instructors and length of ice time. All games and teams are divided by talent level and not by age.
